When the original metal garden hose came out, I immediately ordered one. I dreamt for a long time about a good metal garden hose, but I could never find it.
Bionic steel is very similar to other metal garden hoses, but is cheaper and seems to bend much less than my other hose.
304 Stainless steel
I’ve long wondered why they didn’t have metal hoses. They’re too heavy to make. What’s going on?
After a long search I found the reason.
Previous attempts to make a light metal garden hose failed because it would have rusted.
All new metal pipes are now made of 304 stainless steel, which does not corrode.
304 stainless steel is a new type of steel in which an alloy is used to increase the corrosion resistance, which means that it does not rust.

The biggest complaint about the new metal garden hoses was the slow water supply. The diameter of the inner tube is smaller than most tubes and is about the size of a pencil.
A smaller hose provides a higher pressure because the same amount of water comes out of the tap and a smaller hose catches fire.
If you have a garden hose with a larger diameter, the water will simply be sprayed, but with this hose the water will flow out at full power.
Overall I am happy with the speed of the water stream and it seems to be faster than all my other hoses.
Expandable hose against metal garden hose
Expandable garden hose is becoming more and more popular, just like the metal hose.
So, which one’s the best?
Both have some pretty cool features that set them apart from traditional garden hoses.
They are both much larger than light and both are generally cheaper, making them a much more popular option.
Bionic steel weighs about 3 pounds per 25 feet of pipe, making VERY light.
The best thing about new metal pipes is that they do not tear, puncture, crack, break, etc.
The usual failures of my snakes are small pricks and strong turns.
I see that metal garden hoses are becoming the most popular of all garden hoses because they cannot be drilled!
This is only the first year that these pipes are on the market and they are becoming more and more popular.
I can see them getting more and more popular over time.
As usual, I always like to click on those 1-star reviews and see the awful things people say.
The main complaint about a EVERY garden hose concerns leaks and elbows.
I’m trying to tell people that any pipe can do that if you don’t take good care of it.
In the case of Bionic Steel, the claims related to leaks and elbows and to different requests for delivery. A man got a pipe with two female eyes at each end, which is a bit odd.
Also complaints about a damaged pipe. If this happens, they’ll send you a new one when you take pictures.
- Materials for pipes – stainless steel
- Length – 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 feet
- The weight is 3 pounds by 25 feet.
- Are there any complaints? Licensing and crumbling, and sadomasochism.
- Warranty – 45 days money back guarantee and 12 months.
Of course, number one in the choice for metal garden hoses this summer. Let’s see if this trend continues for metal garden hoses. These new pipes are really cool and will become more and more popular.
In general I would say that it is the best metal garden hose of 2017. This is the most affordable price and is the subject of much positive criticism – also on the mine.
I don’t have any leaks (yet), and I’ve learned how to prevent elbows, which is actually quite easy if you know how to do it.
